Top-of-the-line grills, stoves and fireplaces

Winter might be drawing to a close, but it’s not too late to think about how you’re going to heat your home when those temps drop again next season. Embers Stoves and Fireplaces in South Portland specializes in stoves and fireplaces, including gas, wood and pellet.

Embers carries a variety of lines including Jotul, Regency, Pacific Energy, Mendota, Enviro, Wittus, and Kozy Heat. Kozy Heat is a full line manufacturer ranging from wood fireplaces to gas stoves. They are a 34-year-old, family-owned American fireplace manufacturer. Kozy Heat specializes in furnace rated gas stoves, fireplaces and fireplace inserts that run without electricity. Kozy Heat Gas Products are known for superior flames, heat and value.

“We decided to go into business because we had the opportunity to sell Jotul,” says Ernie Stanhope, co-owner of Embers Stoves and Fireplaces. Ernie adds that he stands behind the line and carries it in full at Embers’ Main Street showroom.

Jotul’s North American headquarters is located in Gorham, which encourages a local relationship. Customers can be assured they will receive expert opinions and service at Embers Stove and Fireplaces. Either Ernie or co-owner Peggy Brown are on-site at all times and offer advice to customers.

Ernie says wood and pellet stoves can be cost effective compared to oil heat and are simple to operate. He says gas stoves are nearly maintenance free and are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also used as zone heaters. Embers features two new lines of stoves this year: Wittus and Enviro. Wittus is a more contemporary line of wood and pellet stoves. They feature one of the most efficient pellet stoves on the market at an efficiency rating of 93 percent. Enviro is Embers’ new major line of pellet stoves and includes quiet-running freestanding units. Sales, service, and installation are completely professional and Embers only employs factory trained installers. Ernie goes to every customer’s home upon purchase and installation of a stove or fireplace to ensure customer satisfaction.

Ernie and Peggy also cater to contractors in addition to the average family.

A popular item is the Big Green Egg, the original American designed ceramic cooker. Based on a 3,000- year-old cooking style, the Big Green Egg can be used for anything from grilling a steak to slow cooking a tender brisket to baking a loaf of bread.

The Big Green Egg is made using space-age ceramics developed specifically for the company, causing it to retain heat and moisture so well that foods never dry out. Meats and other foods undergo little to no shrinkage and are tastier because the natural juices and flavors stay locked inside.

It’s also easy to start and reaches cooking temperatures anywhere from zero to 700 degrees in approximately 10 minutes.

“It has a cult following,” says Ernie. “Once someone owns one they fall in love with it. Cook for someone else and then all of a sudden that person wants one, it’s pretty diverse.”

Customers should also stop by to view the Eon line of patio furniture. Eon has established a legacy of the highest standards and has redefined outdoor furnishings with classic, timeless designs.
