We Welcome Everyone Here

It’s all about community at MobyRx, the familyowned pharmacy right over the Casco Bay Bridge in South Portland.

MobyRx owner Momen Abdullayof said the pharmacy is aimed at helping everyone in the greater South Portland community.

“We welcome everyone here,” Momen said.

To make sure everyone’s medical needs are being met, MobyRx offers prescription delivery to the local area free of charge.

Momen comes with over 10 years of pharmacy experience at Rite-Aid Pharmacy, including the South Portland location in Mill Creek, which has since closed.

He says his experience at the store made him realize that he is more than just a pharmacist. He is a part of the local community too.

Momen said he and the rest of his staff are available to answer any questions customers might have about prescriptions, over the counter medication or other medical supplies.

“This is not just a pharmacy, it is a solution for all medical needs.”

He says he tries to be flexible to cater to his local clientele’s needs and makes a point to know each customer by name.

Momen said most of the products and services offered at MobyRx are based on customer needs.

In addition to prescription medication, MobyRx is stocked with snacks, greeting cards, stationary, baby care supplies, cough and cold medication, feminine care products, over the counter medication and home health care supplies. Customers are encouraged to join the Good Neighbor Prescription Savings Club where they can save on 300 generic medications.

Momen says MobyRX is continuously working to expand their selection of organic products, specialty foot care and home health care sections. MobyRx currently stocks wheelchairs, walkers and canes and recently became certified by the American Board of Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics to sell durable medical supplies.

MobyRx also consistently makes an effort to shop local and support the local economy.

After coming to this country from Uzbekistan in the late 1980s, he graduated from Northeastern University in 1997, where he took up the study of pharmacy.

“I loved working with people and educating them about their prescriptions and medication,” he said.

Momen moved back to Maine for the sense of community and the ocean and began working at Rite-Aid: first in Westbrook and later in South Portland.

Since opening last year, MobyRx has been well received within the community.

“So far it’s been good and fun,” Momen says.

Momen says as he looks to the future he looks forward to continuing to meet the needs of the local people with a smile on his face.

“If they come in looking for something we don’t have, we will go the extra mile to obtain it or locate it for them.” Momen said.

Strong customer service is a quality he also preaches to all his employees.

“I want to let the community know we are here for them,” he says. “If they have a question, I’ll answer anything I can.”
