Michael Carter of South Portland was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering at the 144th commencement exercises at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass., on May 12.

Rev. Augustine Kelly, O.S.B., dean of Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., announced that the following students were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester: Alexis Jane Bogdanovich of South Portland, a psychology major and member of the class of 2015; and Katherine E. Moreshead of South Portland, a undeclared major and a member of the class of 2015.

James Kearney II graduated with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo. Kerney III is the son of Martha Kerney of Cape Elizabeth.

The following high school students were awarded the 2012 Saint Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement with a Social Conscience: Duncan Hanrahan of Cape Elizabeth, a student at Cape Elizabeth High School; Jenna Wallace of Cape Elizabeth, a student at Cape Elizabeth High School; and Brian Weden of South Portland, a student at South Portland High School.

Amelia Bothel of Cape Elizabeth was named to the dean’s list for the 2012 spring semester at Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass.

The following residents earned degrees from Clark University in Worcester, Mass., on Sunday, May 20: Abhijit Srungavarapu of Cape Elizabeth graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry and molecular biology; Aidan B. MacDonald of Cape Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in history; Kelsey H. Spratt of Cape Elizabeth graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Spratt is a member of the Fiat Lux honor society; Ying Ying Phung of South Portland graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.

Alexander J. Frustaci of Cape Elizabeth was named to the dean’s list at Western New England in Springfield, Mass., for the spring semester of 2012. Frustaci is a junior majoring in English – creative writing.

Stonehill College in Easton, Mass., recently named the following residents to its dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester: Cape Elizabeth resident Nora B. Sweeney, a member of the class of 2012; South Portland resident Brianna M. Wing, a member of the class of 2012; and South Portland resident Kyle J. Randall, a member of the class of 2014.

Nathan Marles of South Portland was named to the dean’s list at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Fla., for the spring semester, which ended in May. Marles is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in information systems

Gabriella Salce received the 2012 Finard Properties Scholarship. Salce is a 2012 graduate of South Portland High School and plans to study communication at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.

The University of Connecticut recently announced the students who attained the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester. They include

Abigail Bryant Dancause of Cape Elizabeth and Tanner Castine Burgdorf and Gregory James Reinhold of South Portland.
