With over 20 years experience in the Hearth Industry, Embers Stoves and Fireplaces understand what their customers need!

Walk into Embers Stoves and Fireplaces on Main Street in South Portland and the owners, Ernie Stanhope and Peggy Brown, will be there for you. Either Ernie or Peggy, or, more often, both, are in the store at all times to help customers in the market for a wood stove, pellet stove, fireplace insert, grills or accessories. Embers’ co-owners have more than 20 years experience combined in the Hearth Industry to help their customers. They opened Embers Stoves & Fireplaces in 2009, and in the years since, have consistently added to the variety of products they sell. That selection of fireplaces and stoves includes models from Jotul, Mendota, Pacific Energy, Regency, Kozy Heat, Enviro, Hampton and Wittus. “We decided to go into business because we had the opportunity to sell Jotul,” Ernie said. Jotul’s North American headquarters are located just a few miles away in Gorham, but the popular stoves are far from the only options for customers. Stanhope says he has made a consistent effort to “adapt to the times” and bring customers what they want as tastes change. Embers demonstrated that commitment to remain current when it added the Wittus line of contemporary stoves to its inventory. Wittus, a company based in Denmark, combines the modern style with state-ofthe art technology and the tradition of an efficient alternative stove. The hallmark of the stoves are their craftsmanship and the ability to view the fire through their unique design. With Winter approaching, wood stoves, pellet stoves and fireplace inserts provide a costeffi cient alternative for those concerned about rising heating oil prices. But even though Summer and grilling season is coming to an end, it’s never too early to think about next year, and Embers has all the cooks covered as well. The Big Green Egg is one of the products at Embers that is especially popular. The Big Green Egg uses a domed design that’s thousands of years old combined with modern technology to grill, smoke or bake easily. “Once someone owns one they fall in love with it. Cook for someone else and then all of a sudden that person wants one. It’s pretty diverse,” he said. Ernie and Peggy perform inhome visits to help you find the fireplace or stove that is the best fit for your home, part of their effort to always make their customers feel at ease. They also install and service every single product that they sell. Embers is the only specialized retail fireplace shop in the greater Portland area. Embers is open at 581 Main St. in South Portland Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 221- 8242 or visit embersstoveshop.com.
