Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

As someone who has worked with Rebecca Millett for the last 10 years, I was thrilled when she decided to run for Maine Senate – not just because of who she is – brilliant, diligent, approachable and dedicated – but because I know she will work tirelessly for our district.

She is the clear choice because:

• Rebecca has public service experience. Rebecca has six years of experience serving as an elected official. She not only advocated for our schools’ needs, but she also spent time working with legislators and school officials from other districts to demand fair education funding for our schools.

• She has real-life experience. After earning her MBA, she applied her business acumen in the private sector briefly, and then devoted her skills to serving those less fortunate both in the states and abroad. These experiences gave her knowledge and confidence that translate well in our political world.

• Rebecca embraces a challenge. Her years on the school board were some of the most trying in recent history – spending caps, divisive special interest groups, threats of school consolidation were just a few of the hurdles faced. The prickly climate in Augusta will not discourage her.

• Notably, Rebecca has won the support of our local Democratic leaders past and present, including: former Sen. George Mitchell, Rep. Jane Eberle, former Sen. Larry Bliss and former Congressman Tom Allen. They all agree Rebecca is the clear choice.

Please join me in supporting Rebecca Millett for Senate.
