Food cupboard needs home

To the editor:

The South Portland Food Cupboard is looking for a bigger space. The church where we reside at this time, (St. John the Evangelist) may close this summer. A decision has not been made. Even if this happens, we can stay there for a while. We do need more space though, and the board decided to be proactive and start to look elsewhere. We need your help. If any of you have contacts, space, etc., we would love to know. Below are some of our challenges we face for this undertaking:

• At least 4,000 square feet

• In South Portland

• Handicapped accessible

• Ample parking

• Water, sink, kitchen

• Bathroom facilities

• Venting, walk-in-freezer

• Easy access location for clients

• Low rent

Please call 874-0379 or 504-3307 if you can help.

We are in the basement of St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street/Route 1 in South Portland. Wednesdays are a work day from 8 a.m. to noon and Thursdays we operate the food cupboard from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

We are a 100-percent volunteer, 501 3C non-profit, with well over 50 volunteers. We help many and we love what we do.
