SOUTH PORTLAND – A South Portland man was reportedly stabbed Friday night, March 22, and suffered what police called “serious but non-life threatening” injuries.

Sgt. Steve Webster of the South Portland Police Department said officers found the man unconscious at the bottom of a stairwell when they arrived at 25 Palmer St. at 11:22 p.m. on Friday.

The man, who police did not identify, was taken to Maine Medical Center and has since been released, Webster said on Monday, March 25.

Police spoke to several witnesses at the address. Webster said detectives interviewed the person they believed was responsible, but did not make an arrest. Webster said he does not expect any charges to be filed in the near future. He declined to give any details of the circumstances of the stabbing because the investigation is still open.
