Don’t allow alcohol in Bug Light Park

To the editor:

Although my grandfather opened the first bar in South Portland the day after prohibition ended, I believe that a family event should not serve alcohol. be bought or bought and consumed. That equals one establishment where alcohol can be obtained every 0.16 square miles within our city limits. With that density of businesses, there is currently plenty of opportunity to obtain alcohol in South Portland without adding family festivals to the mixture.

I ask you to contact your city councilor and ask them to vote against the proposed ordinance change allowing the buying/ consuming of alcohol in city parks or other recreational areas.
