Final summer concert features Cuban music

Thomas Memorial Library’s final outdoor summer concert will feature Cuban dance music by the band Primo Cubano, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22.

Formed in 2006 by band leader Paul D’Alessio after an inspiring visit to Brunswick’s sister city, Trinidad de Cuba, Primo Cubano is a five–piece band committed to rendering Cuban “Son” faithfully for audiences back home who otherwise would probably not be able to experience it live. “Son” is the most popular style to come out of Cuba and is the primary contributor to the blend of Latin styles today known as salsa.

The concert will be held on the library’s front lawn (in the event of rain, the concert will be moved indoors). More information about the band, including videos of live performances, can be found on the library’s website at www.thomasmemoriallibrary.org.
