South Portland’s WinterFest includes variety of family and outdoor events

The South Portland Parks and Recreation Department and The Rotary Club of South Portland-Cape Elizabeth will host the second annual WinterFest on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1. Most events throughout the weekend are free and open to the public.

Events will kick off on Jan. 31 with a luminary walk from Knightville to Mill Creek Park. The luminary walk will leave from CIA café at 5:30 p.m. A skating party, on location broadcast with Coast 93.1, and wing-eating contest sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings, will take place at Mill Creek Park from 6 to 8 p.m. Scavenger hunt winners will be announced at 7 p.m.

On Feb. 1 events will begin with a pancake breakfast hosted by JP Thornton’s, located at 740 Broadway from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The South Portland High School Hockey Boosters will host a Chili and Chowder Challenge at the community center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
