South Portland library will host concert after hours

The South Portland Public Library continues its series of free after-hours events with a concert given by The Bellamy Jazz Band 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at the library’s main location, 482 Broadway.

The Bellamy Jazz Band has been together for more than 30 years and plays traditional New Orleans- and Chicagostyle jazz and swing. It features Peter Dunphy on banjo, tenor guitar and vocals, Peter Lord on soprano and tenor saxophone, Bill Thurston on drums, Al Doane on string bass, Dana Fisher on trumpet, and David DeBree on tenor sax and vocals. Known for their loose, jamming style, The Bellamy Jazz Band takes their audience along on a musical ride from Preservation Hall to prehistoric swing. Their performance will include jazz ballads, dance hall tunes, and just a suggestion that they may have heard of rock and roll.

The concert will be held outside of the library’s usual hours of operation, and as such, regular library services will not be available.

Admission to this event is free. Questions can be directed to the South Portland Public Library at 767-7660. Visit the library website at www.SouthPortlandLibrary.com or follow it on Facebook.
