(Courtsey photo) The U14 boy’s team of the South Portland Strikers Soccer Club successfully defended their title at the 15th annual Crossroads Challenge Tournament in Gray, over the Columbus Day weekend. The Strikers squared off against the Oxford County Soccer Club for the championship, in a game that ended in regulation and overtime tied 1-1. The contest moved to penalty kicks to determine the winner. In the eighth round goalie Quinn Watson stopped an Oxford penalty shot, and that was followed up by a successful kick from Jacob Hackett to give the Strikers the one-goal lead they would not relinquish. The Strikers earned a trip to the title game with wins over Freeport 2-1 and the host Patriot Soccer Club 4-1.
