South Portland Recreation offers new ski programs

The South Portland Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department are offering two new ski programs for children ages 6 to 18. The programs will take place at Shawnee Peak in Bridgton.

The Sunday lesson program is for children in grades one through five. This is a day program that includes a one-hour lesson and free time to practice. Bus will depart South Portland Community Center at 8 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. Children will be supervised by adult staff. Dates are Jan. 4 through Feb. 8 with a makeup date of Feb. 15.

The Monday night ski and ride program is for children in grades six through 12. The program is for the experienced skier/rider. Bus departs the community center at 3 p.m. and returns at 10 p.m. All trips are supervised by adult chaperones. Dates are Jan. 5 through Feb. 9 with a makeup date of Feb. 16.
