Dogs honored in May 3 fundraising event for cancer society

Bark For Life, an event hosted by the American Cancer Society, will bring dog owners and their pets together in the fight against cancer on Sunday, May 3. The noncompetitive 3-mile walkathon will raise funds for the American Cancer Society while celebrating the bond between people and their dogs.

Bark For Life of Greater Portland will take place at Bug Light Park in South Portland. Registration will start at 11:30 a.m. In addition to the walk, the event will feature a variety of activities for dogs and owners alike, such as a demonstrations, an owner/dog look-a-like contest and vendors. There will also be prizes for the top fundraising dogs.

Bark For Life is a community event that will honor the caregiving qualities of dogs.
