A-Best Window

I had seen A-BEST Window replace many of my neighbor’s windows in the Country Garden neighborhood of South Portland over the years, so we had A-BEST replace ours! Why did I wait so long? We immediately noticed how much tighter, quieter, and warmer our rooms were. Thank you, A-BEST. We will recommend you to anyone looking for quality windows! Since the mid-1980s, A-B.E.S.T. Window, located at 1199 Broadway in South Portland, has helped Mainers all across southern Maine stay warm in the winter by installing quality replacement windows.

“We are the only Maine company that manufacturers, sells and installs our own windows. We are a member of the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth “Buy Local” organization and try to emphasize the importance from an economical standpoint that buying local makes all sorts of sense,” said A-B.E.S.T. Window General Manager, Jim Soule.

The family-run company was started in 1985 in an effort to help homeowners reduce their need for heating oil by having more airtight homes.

“I wondered what one person could do to lessen the reliance on overseas Middle East oil,” Soule said. “This was a product that made a lot of sense for our state.”

Soule said, although it varies, customers can typically save between 25 percent and 35 percent in fuel costs by updating their window through A-B.E.S.T.

Over the course of the last 30 years, A-B.E.S.T. Window has installed nearly 200,000 windows along the I-95 corridor from Kittery to Augusta and the coastal corridor from Kittery to Damariscotta. The vast majority of the work A-B.E.S.T. Window has done is residential, but Soule said the company has done some commercial work at elderly housing complexes, churches and large residential facilities.

In fact, before the end of the year some homeowner in southern Maine is going to hear his or her doorbell ring with the announcement, complete with confetti and balloons, that he or she is about to be the 200,000 A-B.E.S.T. Window installation, and they will get their entire order FREE! Soule said, that prize could value in the 5 figure range.

While A-B.E.S.T. Window has evolved as the industry has modernized, what has not changed is the company’s commitment to customer service.

“It’s our commitment to provide the very best window that is manufactured and the quality of our work in installing that window,” Soule said that’s what has made the company such a success over the years. “We offer the best product out there and sell it for less. The reason we can sell it for less is because we are the manufacturer so we cut out the middle man.”

Since A-B.E.S.T. Window started in 1985, Soule said there has been a big movement dedicated to the importance of having energy efficient homes.

“Efficiency Maine has added a lot to bringing to light the importance of replacing windows. We are an Efficiency Maine licensed contractor which we take great pride in. “We do the installations in our customers homes as if we were doing it in our own home. That is instilled in all A-B.E.S.T. employees,” Soule said.
