Senator named to board

Democratic Sen. Rebecca Millett of Cape Elizabeth was named to the Maine Alliance for Arts Education board of directors.

“I am honored and excited to join the board of MMEA and an incredible group of arts education advocates,” Millett said. “With our world, economies and businesses becoming more interconnected, complex and driven by innovation, we need to create more opportunities for our students to think creatively and imaginatively. As a parent of two high school students, a member of the Legislature’s Education Committee and a former school board member, I have seen first-hand the importance of arts education for Maine’s students and for the future. I am committed to strengthening arts education in our schools.”

The mission of the Maine Alliance for Arts Education is to promote and encourage education in all of the arts for Maine students. The board of directors of the Maine Alliance for Arts Education includes arts education advocates from communities around the state, educators, arts specialists, school administrators, business people, legislators and advisors from the Maine Arts Commission and the Maine Department of Education.
