Candidate would speak for children

To the editor:

I have been a friend and neighbor of Matt Perkins for many years and I strongly support his bid for a seat on the school board in South Portland. Once you meet Matt you get a sense of guy who is affable, sincere and dedicated.

He has a calm, thoughtful and genuine disposition – qualities that will make him a valuable addition to the school board. Matt is passionate about his family, work and community. He cares deeply about our school system and has a strong vested interest in making it the best it can be with three young kids of his own in the South Portland schools.

You can often see Matt out running in the neighborhood or playing with his kids in his yard. He has also coached our kids in Little League where it is evident he has compassion and great understanding of kids. Last spring when I posted that I was looking for support for Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Matt quickly stepped up and raised significant funds for an organization I care deeply about simply to help out.

Matt is a quality individual who is looking for a chance to make a difference. I know that he would make an immediate and significant contribution to the school board if given the opportunity. I hope you will consider voting for him on Nov. 3.

Tom Edgar South Portland
