Locals and hotel guests alike gather at the fireplace lounge and intimate Sea Glass restaurant at Inn by the Sea to savor Chef Sicinski’s fresh seasonal menus and take in the pan oramic ocean views. Perched above sandy Crescent Beach, with sweeping Atlantic vistas and lobster boats on the horizon, Sea Glass offers an inspired menu featuring high quality produce, fish, meat, vegan and vegetarian offerings, paired with a wine list of over 200 labels and 2,400 bottles. Sicinski’s progressive cooking style evolved with an unlikely melding of classical French training at Le Cordon Bleu, a passion for rusticity and years of experience pioneering SPA cuisine where wellness was incorporated into menus. The Chef merges old school technique with constant innovation.

Samplings of the changing winter menu include Bone in Filet Mignon with a zucchini potato tart, Sea Scallops with risotto carbonara, a Vegan Shepherd’s Pie with mushrooms and vegan gravy, Chopped Salad with romaine, sunflower seeds and butternut squash guacamole, Lobster Shrimp Dumplings with soy sauce, or Duck Spring Rolls with sweet cabbage.

Sicinski believes in developing dishes he enjoys, crafting them to be both delectable and approachable. “I think people are moving away from showy presentations and pretension, and are more interested in simple food that tastes great,” says the Chef who sees his food as stylishly unfussy. “Making use of the best ingredients available, whether farmed, crafted or caught is a priority,”says Sicinski.

Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily and Sunday brunch, Sea Glass Restaurant is open year-round and welcomes the public. Sea Glass hosts paired wine and beer dinners and special occasion events such as menus for Easter or Mother’s Day. Nellie’s Tea & Gifts in South Portland is “all about tea”

Nellie’s Tea & Gifts in South Portland is “all about tea”. Named for the British grandmother of owner Marianne Russo, what started as a dream of owning a “little English tea room” has developed into a passion that seeks to celebrate the many cultures of tea. Recently celebrating 12 years in business, our goal is to help interested community members learn more about this diverse, ages old leaf, to provide a place and atmosphere which celebrates the civility of tea, and to share our passion for learning and tasting. In addition to offering retail tea and related accoutrements and gifts, we frequently host in-house tastings and classes, tea events throughout the community, education to community groups, as well as catered tea parties. We welcome you to stop in for a quiet cup of tea in our casual setting, or can arrange a full tea party by reservation. Marianne is the only tea you enjoy. The truth is, green tea does not have to taste awful! Let us Fri 10–5 and Sat. 10-3; other times by appointment. www.nelliestea.com
