Firefighter raising money for foundation

Matt Cox of the South Portland Fire Department is raising money for the Martin Richard Foundation. Martin was the 8-year-old boy killed at the Boston Marathon bombing. His parents have formed a nonprofit foundation in his name and also formed team MR8, which supports the foundation.

Cox raised money last year for the foundation, and this year is running the Boston Marathon as official member of team MR8. He has organized an event aimed at corporate, as well as individual donors, to be held at Easy Day in South Portland, from 5 to 8 p.m. April 10 where 10 percent of proceeds will be donated to the foundation. There will be bowling, food, raffles and silent auctions.
