Library to collect supplies for animals

The South Portland Public Library is holding a supply drive to assist Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland from Sunday, Feb. 21, through Saturday, March 5. Items can be brought either to the Main Library at 482 Broadway, or the Branch Library at 155 Wescott Road.

Items in need include:

Supplies for cats: Canned/wet cat food, dry food, small pet beds, cat toys (wands, balls, cat nip sacks, etc.), small pet brushes, litter (clay and non-clumping, usually the less expensive brands like Special Kitty)

Supplies for dogs: Dry dog food, medium and large pet beds, dog toys (kongs, nylabones, deer antlers, etc.), large pet brushes.

Supplies for small animals: Timothybased rabbit food, hamster/gerbil wheels (free standing), white vinegar, dried cranberries.

Miscellaneous items: Gift certificates to local pet stores (Petco, Pet Quarters, Pet Life), gift certificates to box stores (Hannaford, Walmart, Target, Home Depot), new/clean linens (pillow cases, flat sheets, towels, blankets), Forever stamps, copy paper/office supplies.
