Film will tell story of local Holocaust survivor

Cape Elizabeth United Methodist Church will host a showing of the movie “Max: Surviving the Holocaust” on Wednesday, March 23. There will be a short reception beginning at 6:15 p.m. and the movie will begin at 6:45 p.m. The film was produced by Daniel Lambert of the University of New England and features the story of Portland resident and Holocaust survivor Max Slabotzky. Slabotzky will attend the showing of the film and will be available for questions before and afterward. The event is free and open to the public. The film tells the story, in Slabotzky’s own words, about how as a young boy he was in hiding during the Nazi occupation of his native Belgium, his capture by the S.S., and how he survived the concentration camp at Auschwitz. The church is located at 280 Ocean House Road.
