SoPo sells signs, not souls

To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to respond to the June 3 article in The Sentry concerning the school department’s plan to close the gap in the athletic budget by selling advertising at the football stadium and gym.

I want to commend Ken Kunin and Todd Livingston for having the courage and foresight to recognize a problem and come up with a bold and ambitious plan for solving it. As a four-year football and lacrosse booster, I know firsthand how incredibly difficult it is to help fill that financial gap. This plan will go a long way toward helping ease the burden for many, many hard working volunteers who want nothing more than to help kids play the sports they love without worrying about if their parents can pay for it.

Please join me in supporting Mr. Kunin and Mr. Livingston as they try to navigate us through these difficult financial times. No folks, we are not “selling our souls.” The times, they are a changin’. We need to change with them.
