Nellie’s Tea & Gifts in South Portland is “all about tea”

Nellie’s Tea & Gifts in South Portland is “all about tea”. Named for the British grandmother of owner Marianne Russo, what started as a dream of owning a “little English tea room” has developed into a passion that seeks to celebrate the many cultures of tea. Throughout our 12 years in business, our goal is to help interested community members learn more about this diverse, ages old leaf, to provide a place and atmosphere which celebrates the civility of tea, and to share our passion for learning and tasting. In addition to offering retail tea and

related accoutrements and gifts, we frequently host in-house tastings and classes, tea events throughout the community, education to community groups, as well as catered tea parties. We welcome you to stop in for a quiet cup of tea in our casual setting, or can arrange a full tea party by reservation. Marianne is the only tea you enjoy. The truth is, green tea does not have to taste awful! Let us Fri 10 –5; Sat. 10 – 3; other times by appointment. www.nelliestea.com

There’s a New Chef in Town!

Andrew Chadwick Appointed Executive Chef for Sea Glass at Inn by the Sea

With simple local food, seasonally sourced and beautifully presented, Chef Andrew’s Chadwick’s new Sea Glass menu offers local diners an innovative taste of Maine. He and sous Chef Greg Hill took over the ocean view restaurant at Inn by the Sea in July, and immediately launched new menus focused on regional fare with a modern take on traditional cuisine. Previously, both Chadwick and Hill worked together at the renowned Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod.

Chef Chadwick has been busy forging relationships with local farmers and fishermen since his arrival. “People ask about my cooking philosophy,” said Chadwick. “It’s simple- I use unique combinations of high quality ingredients to showcase local producers, growers and fishermen to tease out authentic, native flavors. I don’t subscribe to one culinary school but create simple dishes based on the influences I’ve accumulated over the years.”

Chef Chadwick’s menus pair with the Inn’s award winning wine cellar for Sea Glass and social events including wine dinners, weddings and meetings.

Sea Glass menus highlight New England’s bounty with offerings for every palette such as local oysters with house yuzu espuma, american caviar served on a bed of sea salt, a surf and turf poached lobster tail with grass fed sirloin, farmhouse burgers, poached hake with tomato puree, or grilled beet tofu with carrot puree as a vegan option.

Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily and Sunday brunch, Sea Glass is open to the public yearround. Sea Glass hosts paired wine and beer dinners and special occasion events such as menus for Thanksgiving or New Years. For special events visit Facebook InnbytheSea and www.InnbytheSea.com for current menus. Reservations recommended: 207 799 3134.

The Anderson Family welcomes you

to the Pat’s Pizza in Scarborough

“Pat” Farnsworth opened Farnworth’s Cafe in Orono, Maine in July 1931. Because of his efforts, Pat saw the cafe, which originally sold ice cream and confections, become

a full service restaurant.

In 1953 Pat’s added pizza to his menu. The fresh dough pizza, topped with a special sauce developed by Pat and his wife Fran, were an instant success. Pat’s change in

the menu transformed Farnsworth Cafe into Pat’s Pizza.

All of Pat’s Pizza restaurants offer friendly, casual, and affordable dining for the entire family. On behalf of the entire staff, the Anderson family who have been serving you in Scarborough since 1985 hope you enjoy your visit and come back to see us often.
