Re-elect senator so she can continue good work

To the editor:

As someone who enjoys hiking in the mountains of Maine and spending time relaxing by the ocean at our beautiful beaches, I’m glad to know that Sen. Rebecca Millett shares my concerns about protecting our environment. Sen. Millett joined with many of her legislative colleagues on both sides of the aisle in Augusta to pressure Gov. Paul LePage to release land conservation bonds. Those bonds were already approved by Maine voters and will help protect and preserve Maine’s beautiful natural resources for future generations.

With the effects of climate change already beginning to impact Maine, we need to do what we can to start to move away from our reliance on fossil fuels. This transition can actually be a win-win for Maine if we’re willing to embrace it. Sen. Rebecca Millett co-sponsored the Maine Solar Energy Act to promote solar energy development and generation. The bill also supports solar manufacturing and jobs in this important and growing industry. We need to send Sen. Rebecca Millett back to the Legislature to finish her important work on this issue.

People in South Portland, Cape Elizabeth and part of Scarborough are fortunate to have Rebecca Millett representing us in the Maine Senate. We know we can count on her to help protect Maine’s environment that makes this such a great place to live. She has earned our vote on Election Day. Please join me in voting for her on Nov. 8.
