Cancer center offers resiliency workshop

Cancer patients, survivors and caregivers are invited to attend “Building Resiliency,” a workshop led by Stephanie McLeod-Estevez, LCPC from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11 at the Cancer Community Center, 778 Main St. in South Portland.

Workshop participants will learn how to improve their health and healing during and after cancer treatment by building resiliency. Resiliency is defined as a person’s ability to recover, emotionally and psychologically, from major difficulties. Being resilient during and after cancer treatment helps patients manage stress and improve their wellness. The workshop will offer specific techniques and resources that participants can do at home to build resiliency in the face of a cancer experience.

McLeod-Estevez, of Creative Transformations, is an art therapist and breast cancer survivor who has tapped into her life experience, training as a therapist and personal creative processing of cancer to build Creative Transformations, LLC.

To register, visit www.cancercommunitycenter.org or call the center at 774-2200. All programs are free to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.
