Author Talk, 2 p.m., South Portland Public Libary. Phyllis Chinlund will discuss, “Looking Back from the Gate: A Story of Love, Art, and Dementia,”

The Many Moods of Christmas, a Casco Bay Wind Symphony concert, 3 p.m., McCormack Performing Arts Center, Gorham High School. The 70-member ensemble, originally from South Portland, is made up of professional and amateur musicians from all over southern Maine, and is one of the highest quality wind ensembles in New England.

Kehilah Portland Messianic Jewish Synagogue meets, 10 a.m., Greater Portland Christian School, 1338 Broadway, South Portland. Torah study follows at 1 p.m. FMI, call 809-3104.

Sunday, Dec. 11

Advent vespers, 5:30 p.m., First Congregational Church, UCC,

301 Cottage Road, South Portland. The Meetinghouse Choir presents a candlelight service, featuring an Advent Litany by Maria Kane with hymns, anthems and solos both vocal and instrumental. A time of refreshment and fellowship will follow the service.

Eventide, 5:30 p.m., St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Shore Road, Cape Elizabeth. A service of prayer and music in Celtic tradition.

Church service, 10 to 11 a.m. Peoples United Methodist Church, 310 Broadway, South Portland. Nursery care and Sunday school during service followed by a coffee fellowship.

Service, 10:45 a.m., Cape Elizabeth Church of the Nazarene, 499 Ocean House Road, Cape Elizabeth, 9:30 a.m. Sunday school for all ages.

Alzheimer’s Support Group, 7 p.m., First Congregational Church, 301 Cottage Road, South Portland. Meeting is for families and friends of those affected by Alzheimer’s or dementia and is held the second Monday of the month.

Tuesday, Dec. 13

Band concert, 7 p.m., South Portland High School Auditorium, 637 Highland Ave., South Portland. Includes Memorial Middle School Band with high school marching band. Free.

Wednesday, Dec. 14

Band concert, 7 p.m., South Portland High School Auditorium, 637 Highland Ave., South Portland. Includes Mahoney Middle School Band with high school marching band. Free.
