Biddeford author to discuss aging

Engine announces “Sage’ing: A Discussion on Conscious Aging” to be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at Engine, 128 Main St. in downtown Biddeford. The discussion will include a discussion and reading on growing older and how bittersweet that can be. The discussion will be moderated by Lisa Barstow, author of “In the Company of Women, Women’s Musings on Elderhood,” with three of the book’s contributors Jan Hryniewicz, Glenny Dunbar and Anne Murray.

When Barstow was looking for another writing project she decided to follow an inner guidance that suggested she write about where she was right then in her life: she was going into her 70th year and was definitely experiencing the aging process. Understanding that while this was not her favorite topic and she alone would not have enough to say to fill a book, she wrote to 20 women asking them to join her and write down their thoughts.

They all agreed and two years later “In the Company of Women, Women’s Musings on Elderhood” was printed.
