Cape school cosponsoring USM event

“Eat Well, Sleep Well, Learn Well: How food, sleep and screen time relate to attention, memory and executive function” will explore the connections between healthy living and successful learning at USM’s Wishcamper Center in Portland from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 24.

Using the metaphor of a mandala, Lindy Grigel, of Fal River Health Center will present a creative and integrated approach to healthy nutritional choices, sleep hygiene and technology use that helps children to become successful learners.

Barbara Melnick of Aucocisco School of Cape Elizabeth will share practical strategies to improve children’s attention, memory, organization and planning skills, resulting in better performance at home and in school.

Hands-on activities will help start participants on the road to easier mornings, fewer forgotten items and lastminute projects, and less nagging.

Co-sponsored by the USM Special Education Department, the free event is open to the public, and children 8 and older are welcome. Park free at the parking garage. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP to Aucocisco School at 773-7323.
