Take me out to the (soft)ball game

The South Portland High School Red Riots softball team is off to a promising start for the coming season, winning five of its last six scrimmages, beating Falmouth 13-0 on April 11, and Greeley 6-0 on April 18. Even the one game it did not win came out in a tie as the team won two and tied one during an April 15 round robin competition at Wainwright Complex. The Red Riots season opens at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 21, at Noble High School, with the first home game slated for 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 24, at the Wainwright complex. Right, Red Riots softball sophomore Sydney Sherburne waves to her teammates after successfully stealing a base. Above, senior Stephanie Aceto delivers a pitch during the 6-0 win over Greeley.
