Community converges

The interior of Eastpoint Christian Church’s new 1,600- seat auditorium holds a large crowd during its 9 a.m. service on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14. At its former location in a 15,000-square-foot warehouse by Portland International Jetport, the church drew 1,400 attendees every week, according to Executive Pastor Jeff Bland. The new space at The Point, previously occupied by Bob’s Discount Furniture and Home Goods, hosts a 92,000-square-foot community center that includes a turf field, cafe, classrooms and more. The church purchased and renovated the space for $7 million, said Discipleship Pastor Larry Strondak. See more photos on pages 10 and 11.
