Cemetery flagging, 9 a.m., meet at VFW Post 832, 50 Peary Terrace. Volunteers will flag the city’s five cemeteries for veterans. FMI, call 767-2575 or 799-3997.

Kehilah Portland Messianic Jewish Synagogue meets, 10 a.m., Greater Portland Christian School, 1338 Broadway, South Portland. Torah study follows at 1 p.m. FMI, call 809-3104.

Memorial Day parade, 10:30 a.m., Southern Maine Community College to Veteran’s Memorial Monument. There will be a short ceremony after parade. At noon there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the public boat launch.

Tuesday, May 30

Author signing and discussion, 6:30 p.m., Thomas Memorial Library, Cape Elizabeth. Richard Rubin, author of a four-part series about American World War I sites in France, will discuss his new book, “Back Over There: One American Time-Traveler, 100 Years Since the Great War, 500 Miles of Battle- Scarred French Countryside, and Too Many Trenches, Shells, Legends and Ghosts to Count”
