South Portland School Board member Jennifer Kirk, who works at the city's Boys and Girls Club, poses at the July 10 board meeting with Superintendent Ken Kunin and Julia Travis, age 7, who won the club's annual photography contest for her picture, entitled "Reflections." Travis' photo was picked for the Chairman's Award by school board chairman Richard Matthews during judging this past January. As such, it will hang on the school department's central office for the next year. Unbeknownst to Matthews or Mayor Patti Smith, another of Travis's photos was selected for the Mayor's Award. Travis is scheduled to present that photo, to hang in city hall, at an upcoming city council meeting.
