Schools sign agreements

Southern Maine Community College and Kaplan University have signed new agreements that ensure graduates from select SMCC academic programs experience a smooth transition to correlating programs at Kaplan that will prepare them for careers in high-demand industries.

SMCC President Dr. Ron Cantor and Kaplan University, Maine President Dr. Christopher Quinn recently signed 10 transfer agreements (known as articulation agreements) that allow graduates from SMCC associate degree programs to seamlessly transfer earned credits to baccalaureate degree programs at Kaplan University.

“These agreements smooth the transfer process, removing hurdles and paperwork for students and ensuring a streamlined transfer path that will save them time and money,” Cantor said.

SMCC programs covered under the agreements are Fire Science, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Information Technology, Human Services, Liberal Studies Psychology, Business Administration and Nursing.

From those programs, SMCC graduations can transfer into the following Kaplan programs: Fire Science, Criminal Justice, Corrections, Information Technology, Early Childhood Administration, Human Services Administration, Psychology/Applied Behavior Analysis, Accounting, Business Administration and Nursing.
