Aging aides

South Portland’s new Senior Citizen’s Advisory Committee has selected its membership. Those appointed to the serve on the group include, front row, from left, Susan Henderson, Joan Herzog, Maxine Beecher, Linda Best, Elizabeth Ross-Holmstrom, and Meredith Tipton, and, back row, from left, Sheila Szafran, Kathy Babeu, Cathy McDonald, and Adele Edelman. The goal of the committee is to assess the needs of the city’s senior population, connecting that demographic to resources needed “to age in their home community with safety and dignity.” Toward that end, the committee will meet weekly (agendas and other materials are available on the city website) in preparation for distribution of a survey and conduct a series of focus groups later this fall.
