City ‘will be better’ if candidate is elected

To the editor:

I am a resident of South Portland, I have four children in elementary and middle school here and I work full time. Busy is an understatement. I am writing on behalf of who I believe to be the best choice for the District Two City Council race, Kate Lewis.

So many words come to mind if I attempt to describe Kate but the most accurate one? Tireless.

Tireless when it comes to fighting for what’s right, tireless when it comes to having an eye always on the future with her feet planted in the present, tireless when it comes to fixing what’s broken, tireless when it comes to listening, negotiating, and understanding, with her friends, family, at work, and when I watch her in the community.

Tireless as a mother on the soccer sidelines.

Tireless as an employee and tireless as a friend, always looking out for people. One reason I know she’s tireless? My friend, Kate, and I have been doing ‘lit drops’ (leaving her election placard at homes) for the last few weeks at 5:30 a.m. several mornings a week.

Apologies to any dogs we’ve woken or people we’ve spooked.

We are trying so hard not to be loud; it’s one of the few times we can get out and get the information to people in the run-up to Nov. 7.

If you see two of us with flashlights making the rounds in the early morning, you’ll know why. I also recommend more sensor lights on houses. I digress.

Kate can and will get things done for South Portland. Get out and vote. Join me in putting someone who is smart, thoughtful, experienced, and tireless on the city council. Our City will be better because of her energy.

Deanne Corcoran

South Portland.
