Candidate will advocate

To the editor:

On Nov. 7 I’m voting for Mary House for one of the two at large seats on the South Portland School Board.

As a mom with children in the elementary and middle schools, Mary cares about the kids and families in our community. She is fully committed to the success of our students and has been actively involved as a regular volunteer at Dyer School and through her five years of service on the school board. Knowing the importance of making sure our kids are prepared for today’s workforce, she has also been a strong advocate for a robust Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program for all students.

Mary has proven to be a thoughtful, pragmatic voice on the school board, taking the time to listen and act upon the concerns she hears from students and parents alike. I have no doubt she will continue to take on the challenges and opportunities facing South Portland schools to make sure our students receive the best education possible.

Mary has served South Portland well and I urge you to join me in reelecting her to the school board on Election Day.

Jill Ward South Portland
