Holiday concert to be held at library

The South Portland Public Library’s After Hours concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 will feature a holiday performance by the Boy Singers of Maine and Sisters in Song at the main library. It will feature a variety of holiday-themed music performed by these two choral groups, the show will be a lovely and festive event for all ages to enjoy, children through adult.

Sisters in Song is the Portland Conservatory’s young women’s vocal ensemble. Choral repertoire is varied, engaging and wide-ranging, including choral songs from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, world music and vocal jazz. Sisters in Song is conducted by Dr. Carolyn Paulin, who earned her doctorate at the University of Illinois and has had a 40- year career as a conductor and teacher.

Boy Singers of Maine is an organization with more than 30 years of history performing nationally and internationally at locations such as the White House and with the Leningrad Symphony Orchestra. This group provides boys an opportunity to meet peers who love to sing, and to engage with a varied repertoire in a collaborative environment. Boy Singers of Maine is conducted by Paul Schnell, a graduate of Westminister Choir College, who has more than 30 years of experience teaching music in the public school system, as well as prior experience with Boy Singers of Maine.

The event is being held outside of usual hours of operation. The library will be closed to regular business during the event.
