Mill Creek HolidayFest was a great success

To the editor:

The 2017 Mill Creek HolidayFest Tree Lighting was a

fabulous success, thanks to the generous contributions from our sponsors, the collaboration among partners and most of all, the hundreds of residents who filled the park with seasonal spirit and happiness. This is a cherished annual event, and the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Community Chamber of Commerce is proud to be a part of it. The city of South Portland and its parks, recreation and waterfront department are at work behind the scenes for weeks ahead of the event, stringing 5 miles of lights in the park’s trees and making other preparations.

The voices of South Portland’s middle school and high school chorus students, guest emcee Meghan Torjussen from WMTW Channel 8, Santa and his helpers in city hall, concession tables stocked with goodies by the PTAs, Robotics Team, and Project Graduation, and the ever-popular horse and wagon rides by Stillbrook Acres, are the special ingredients of this magic event. Thanks to all whose cheerful and tireless efforts continue to light our community for this beautiful season.

Our sponsors, without whom HolidayFest would not be possible, are:

Presenting Sponsor: Texas Instruments. Gold Sponsors: Ainsworth, Thelin and Raftice; Embers Stoves and Fireplaces; Inn by the Sea; Pape Chevrolet and Fairpoint. Silver Sponsors: Kaplan; Saco and Biddeford Savings; Two Lights Dental; KeyBank; Ken Kunin, superintendent of Schools, South Portland; Gorrill Palmer; Maine Solutions and Evergreen Credit Union

Thanks also go to Judith Borelli, Will Haskell, myself and the

South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Community Chamber of Commerce.

Jane Eberle, director of business partnerships South Portland School Department
