With 15 of 21 seats on South Portland’s new Open Space Planning Committee filled by residents who live on the east side of the city, the final six slots have all been reserved for those who live on the west side.

To apply for one of those openings and help draft a plan to identify and protect from the development of existing open spaces in Maine’s fourth largest city, email a letter of interest by April 20 to committee Chairman Barbara Dee at catzrul1@live.com, or vice chairman Tom Blake, at teblake@aol.com.

Applications also can be ground mailed to Dee, in care of City Clerk Emily Scully, at South Portland City Hall, 25 Cottage St., South Portland, ME, 04106.
