Earth Day clean up to be held

South Portland Land Trust will hold an Earth Day citywide litter clean up 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Mill Creek Park, opposite Hannaford.

Land trust Program Manager Dugan Murphy and board members Tom Blake, Jeff Ryan and Richard Rottkov will lead members of the community on a citywide litter cleanup event. Check in at Mill Creek Park opposite Hannaford to sign in and get morning refreshments. Participants get gloves, bags and an assigned location. City workers will pick up the litter volunteers collect once they’re done.

For those who would like to help clean up litter in their part of the city, but can’t make it to Mill Creek Park that morning to check in, email sopolandtrust@gmail.com to let organizers know where they’ll be and if organizers should send volunteers their way.

Each participant will have a chance to win prizes, including a copy of “Appalachian Odyssey,” a copy of “Blazing Ahead,” a backyard composter, two $25 gift certificates to Willows Pizza, a Taproot Magazine tote bag, year subscription to Taproot Magazine, four passes to the South Portland Municipal Golf Course, two passes to the South Portland Recreation Center pool and hot tub, and more.

The rain date is Saturday, April 28.
