Marching band opens season

Marching to the Music of Pasek and Paul’s, “Waving Through a Window,” “Another Day of Sun,” “City of Stars,” “Mia and Sebastian’s Theme,” “This is Me,” and “The Greatest Show,” the 2018 South Portland High School Marching Band will host the second show of the season at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, beginning at South Portland High School on Martin Field.

Having just finished their annual pre-season training, 65 students attended a seven-day camp in preparation for the Maine Band Directors Association’s marching band season. Under the direction of Craig Skeffington and staff, and led by senior drum major Max Gailey, and senior assistant drum major and color guard captain Rachel Currie the SPHS award-winning gold medal marching band’s schedule can be found at www.mebda.org.

The season will culminate with finals at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Westbrook High School.
