Fort host hundreds who support cancer research

More than 1,000 people participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk held Oct. 14 at Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth. About $128,000 was raised during the non-competitive walk which aims to raise awareness of the disease and funds to save lives from breast cancer.

Money raised by Making Strides events help the society ensure no one faces breast cancer alone by funding breast cancer research, promoting education and risk reduction and providing comprehensive patient support to those who need it most. Since 1993, more than 13 million supporters nationwide have raised more than $810 million.
