Dorothy (Dot) Wilmot Swett Flye, 97, passed away on Feb.

17, 2018 at Maine Medical of old age.

Hawkins) was born Nov. 26,

1920 in Portland, Maine.

Dot attended Portland schools and worked in the Portland area, graduating from Deering

High School in 1940.

Mrs. Flye worked 38 years for First National Stores before retiring in 1982. Dot moved to South Portland in 1957 residing there until her death in 2018. After retiring she enjoyed flower gardening, knitting and crocheting. She loved to play cards (especially cribbage) and walking. During her retirement years she was a part time caregiver for a lady who had cancer. She would also drive other seniors to their doctor, dentist and beauty parlor appointments.

During their marriage, Dot and Albert Flye enjoyed traveling through Canada and parts of the eastern seaboard. Their favorite time to travel was usually in the spring and fall, always bringing back a set of salt and pepper shakers as a memento of their journey.

Dot belonged to Elm Street United Methodist Church in South Portland for over 50 years. She attended church regularly and held many offices over the years: treasurer of trustees, treasurer of Thalia Circle, M.A.C.S. Club, and chairperson of several organizations involved with the youth group.

Her husband Albert Flye died Feb. 12, 1983. Her only child, Ralph J. Swett Jr. died Feb. 17, 1995. She leaves behind two step daughters, two grandchildren, three great granddaughters, and three great-great grandsons.

Grave side services will be at 11 a.m. June 23 at Brooklawn Memorial Cemetery, 2002 Congress St., Portland, ME 04102.
