Aided by plenty of sun and warm temperatures, Park Manager Kurt Shoener removes invasive plants at Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth. The event last weekend was coordinated by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, which provided training in recognizing target species as well as removal techniques. Also present was invasive plant biologist Nancy Olmstead, who represented the Maine Natural Areas Program in aiding the effort. She said the effort was the first of its kind for the Bureau of Public Lands, and "hopefully the first of many to come for many state parks," she said. See more photos on page 2.
